Roosevelt Island came to my attention when I saw the remake of Dark Water (2005), starring Jennifer Connelly. I remember looking at the Island on Google maps and I swear I found the water tower on top of one of the apartment buildings. The water tower was purpose built for the film, and taken down after filming. So had the satellite taken the photo of Roosevelt Island during the filming of Dark Water?
Of course, Google has since updated its images, so the water tank is no longer visible.
Anyway, it’s good to see the island getting a dynamic addition, especially considering that the rest of the island looks like it has been left behind in a former decade. This will just add another thing that I’ll have to go and see when I finally get to NYC.
